I believe healthcare will dominate the political discussion for years to come. We need to ensure that our citizens who are most in need are not forgotten. That includes our parents and older relatives as well as the less fortunate. We must strike a balance between providing the need within the resources available.

I also believe, like you, that the education of our young people continues to encounter roadblocks that are unnecessary. I will work to ensure that we have enough teachers, with the right space (not trailers) to provide a good learning environment. Our district has areas that have high enough concentration of school age children and they must be taken care of.

Another area that will get a lot of my attention is the environment. We must protect our water quality and resource as well as making sure that the air we breathe is safe. I will specifically work to make sure that the State EPD takes corrective action to keep LANDFILLS safe. As we grow, the quality of our land, air, and water takes on increased significance and concern. This leads to a major initiative, which is……

Quality Growth. Many areas in Senate District 10 are experiencing rapid growth. That is fine but we must guarantee a couple of things in that growth. One is the preservation of our natural resources as I mentioned above. The other is the creation of LOCAL JOBS. As more people move into new areas, we owe it to the local community and economy to create jobs that are located in that area, not 50 miles away. I will work with other local officials to attract new business in our district.

Fighting crime is essential to the well being of our community. I will guarantee that criminals are punished severely and will act to ensure that our local law enforcement officials have the latest equipment to combat crime.
